This oil painting reveals the intimate moment of a woman asleep and vulnerable.
This is a work painted while I studied under Richard Phipps. I had been working from nude models for about two years; when I had three sessions with this model. I especially like her upturned toe, the lead-in to the composition, her hands and the tablecloth. Transitional areas where color moves from one area to define another keeps the eye moving and unifies the composition. The soft light allows her ivory skin to glow, and soft shadows to reveal the female form and playful reflected light.
Oil on canvas, 35” x 46”, framed.
